About Me

I’m a journalism major at ASU, The State Press’s editor-in-chief, and lover of the Oxford Comma. I’m also a contributor for The Washington Post’s project, The 12, at 2012swingstates.tumblr.com.
I began learning how to be a reporter in my high school journalism class. The experience was so positive, I changed my career path from virtuoso violinist (ha ha) to reporter. Melanie Shawcraft, a former Sunnyslope High School journalism adviser and English teacher, taught me the basics of both writing and leadership.
As a journalism major at Arizona State University, the Cronkite school set me on a path to internships early. Arizona Lifestyle Magazine, Cronkite News Service, The State Press, The Arizona Republic’s AZFactCheck and its business desk,The Phoenix Business Journal, businessjournalism.org, and 2012swingstates.tumblr.com are some opportunities I’ve had during my time at ASU.
Upon graduation in December 2012, I plan to work at a newspaper writing anything at all, but about politics and business as often as possible.
